Virginia Mae “Billie” McGinnis, 93, of Hughesville died Nov. 18, 2012, at Taylor Farm Assisted Living.

She was born April 4, 1919, in Washington, D.C., to the late Ethel Scott Mason, John Glenn Mason and Harry Scott.

She loved spending time with her family, her pets, cooking and reading. She worked in the accounting department as a clerk for C&P Telephone Co. for 21 years, retiring in 1984. In retirement, she volunteered for her great-grandchildren’s elementary school, Civista Medical Center, Catherine Foundation and Care Net Pregnancy Center of Southern Maryland.

She is survived by her son, Patrick McGinnis and his wife, Dari; granddaughters, Wendy and her husband, John Anvari, and Amy and her husband, Gregory Flach; great-grandchildren, Zachary Michelbrink, Morgan Anvari, Hannah Flach, Emily Flach and Alexander Flach; and her “adopted” granddaughter, Shirley McCaffrey.

Family will receive friends for a celebration of her life from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall.

A private funeral service for her immediate family will be Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home with the Rev. Garrett Connor officiating.
