Lawrence Michael Stepien, 64, Bryans Road

Lawrence Michael “Larry” Stepien, 64, of Bryans Road died Nov. 18, 2012.

Born Aug. 11, 1948, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of the late Carmeline and the late Chester Stepien.

Mr. Stepien attended Buffalo Diocesan Preparatory Seminary and then Cansius College in Buffalo. In 1973, he joined the U.S. Army, where he was a career soldier, retiring after 22 years of service. After retirement, he eventually settled in the Baltimore/Washington, D.C., area to be closer to his daughters, Ellery and Sandra.

He had many interests including reading books from historical to fiction. Being a soldier, he was interested in guns and history. He also was interested in motorcycles and his newest fondness was for horses. He was a dog lover and was always spoiling the family dog, Buddha.

He is survived by his daughters, Ellery Stepien and Sandra Sanna and their mother Elena “Helen” Stepien; grandchildren, Nicholas “Nico” Sanna and Jody “JoJo” Sanna Jr.; sister, Anne; nephew, Jonathan and his spouse, Christa and their children, Joseph John “J.J.” and Sydney; close family friends, James “Jimmy” Buckles and Gabrielle Buckles; and many other relatives.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Nov. 28 at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church, Indian Head. Burial will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
