The Maryland/Delaware chapter of the American Planning Association recently awarded the 2012 Planners’ Choice Award to the Town of Capitol Heights for its work to expand streets with low environmental impact.
The town’s Green Street Master Plan was among seven nominees throughout Maryland and Delaware for the award. The plan, funded by the Annapolis-based Chesapeake Bay Trust, lays out a plan requiring development in town to incorporate green building standards, better storm water management techniques, and other environmentally friendly development practices.
