Myrna Iris Zelaya-Quesada, 41, of Friendship died Nov. 16, 2012, at her home.
She was born Feb. 9, 1971, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, to Mario Antonio Zelaya-Najera and Myrna Iris Quesada de Zelaya.
She came to the U.S. with her family in 1977 and lived in New York, Florida and Texas, settling in Maryland in 1982.
She graduated from George Washington University in 1996 with bachelorís degrees in French and biology. She later graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a dual masterís in journalism and health sciences. She was a former journalist with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.
She was married to David Wendell Oswald III on April 15, 2012, at Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church in Bethesda, and has resided in Friendship since.
She is survived by her husband, David; parents, Mario A. and Myrna Iris Zelaya; brother, Mario A. Zelaya-Quesada of Hoboken, N.J.; and stepsons, Zachary Glenn Oswald and David Wendell Oswald IV of Friendship.
Services and a celebration of her life will be at Bradley Hills Presbyterian Church in Bethesda at a later date.
