Damascus area Christian youth groups to attend regional conference -- Gazette.Net

More than 100 Damascus area youth will represent their churches at a regional Christian youth conference in Ocean City this month.

Groups from three churches in Damascus and one in Clarksburg will attend the Alive 2012: Middle School Heroes Youth Conference.

The weekend-long conference — which is for children in grades six through eight — will run from Nov. 16-18 at the Ocean City Convention Center, 4001 Coastal Highway. The event, which is sponsored by Metro Maryland Youth for Christ, is held to build the self-esteem and character of children in the region and help them to be a positive influence on others.

Registration for the event is $85 per person.

The conference will include a concert of Christian faith-based musicians, youth speakers and other entertainment. Edie Bernier, spokesperson for the vent, said that the local chapter of Youth for Christ USA, a nationwide youth ministry, will also host a similar conference call IMPACT 2013: Beneath the Surface for high school students in March.

Youth from Greenbridge Baptist Church in Clarksburg are planning to attend the event, along with Damascus Road Community Church, Montgomery United Methodist Church and Hope Alliance Church, all of which are in Damascus.
