A few weeks ago, Cub Scout Pack 492 teamed up with the Maryland Forest Service to make one part of Rockville a little bit greener.

The scouts planted trees at Lucy V. Barnsley Elementary School as part of Maryland’s Treemendous program, which matches tree donors to community groups and promotes planting trees on public land.

“The event was a great success,” J.P. Marple, one of the organizers, said in an email. “The Maryland Forest Service and even the donors showed up to help.”

The scouts planted the trees Oct. 20 as a service project for the school community.
