The Olney Relay for Life had another impressive year in 2012, raising $240,000 with 66 teams and 702 participants. The 2013 Relay will take place June 8 at Sherwood High School.

Mary Jo O’Brien, 2013 chairwoman, said they are currently recruiting people to be part of the planning committee for next year's event. The committee’s first meeting is scheduled for Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. If interested in attending, contact her at RFLolneymd@gmail.com or 301-774-3694.

Mark your calendar for the official kick-off event, which will take place Dec. 4, with team captain meetings beginning in January. Teams have already begun signing up at www.olneyrelay.org.

“So many in the Olney area are dedicated to this event, honoring and remembering their loved ones,” said O’Brien.
