The winter ice skating season officially begins in Rockville this weekend with a grand opening celebration for the ice rink in Town Square.
Although the skating rink already is open for business, the celebration will include music and activities to welcome the winter season.
The events run from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the ice rink at 200 E. Middle Lane. The Dan Haas Trio will perform live music all evening, and a laser light show and fireworks will begin at 7 p.m. Skating will begin at 7:30 p.m.
The first 500 attendees will receive Rockville Town Square ear warmers. Coffee, hot chocolate, cider and cookies from Dawson’s Market will be on sale for $1 each.
Ice skating is $8 for ages 13 and older, $7 for ages 12 and younger. Skate rentals are $3. Season passes and discount cards are available.
