Christina Morris-Ward was a girl her classmates could count on, and someone everyone liked to be around, according to her principal, Marc Cohen.

Her classmates at Seneca Valley High School are now grieving.

Christina, 15, was hit and killed by a car while walking to school Wednesday.

Police were called to the intersections of Germantown Road and Wisteria Drive at 7:03 a.m after Christina was struck by a 2010 Ford Fusion while crossing the northbound lanes of Germantown Road, according to Montgomery County police.

She was taken to Shady Grove Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, said Montgomery County police Capt. Paul Starks.

It is not yet clear whether the driver was injured, said police spokeswoman Angela Cruz.

Police did not say if charges will be filed against the driver.

Christina, who lived at the 19900 block of Sweetgum Circle in Germantown, was in 10th grade at Seneca Valley.

Cohen made an announcement to students and staff Wednesday morning, and let parents know.

A large poster board was placed in the cafeteria so students could write messages to Jessica, Cohen said.

She was a good, smart student, and was known by her classmates and teachers to be a peaceful young lady, he said.

“She had an infectious smile,” Cohen said.

Extra counselors and school social workers will be on hand to talk to students, he said.

A memorial may be planned.,
