A man was stabbed on the Capital Crescent Trail in Bethesda on Friday afternoon.
Officer Britta Thomas, a Montgomery County police spokeswoman, said officers responded at about 3:30 p.m. Friday to a stabbing on a section of the trail that runs south of Woodmont and Bethesda avenues. The stabbing was related to a dispute between three homeless individuals, Thomas said.
The man who was stabbed was taken to the hospital with an unknown severity of injury, but he was alert and conscious when fire and rescue personnel transported him, Thomas said.
A young woman was attacked and sexually assaulted while jogging on the Capital Crescent Trail in Bethesda on Oct. 21, The Gazette reported earlier this week. Thomas said the Oct. 26 stabbing was not related to the earlier assault.
“This is not a random act; this had nothing to do with the assault that occurred last week,” she said.
A suspect was located and is in custody, Thomas said, and park police are handling any follow-up investigation.
