I’d like to share my support for Raaheela Ahmed, who is a front-runner for the school board for District 5 in Prince George’s County as a sophomore in college. Her age is obviously unique, and her character is as well. I first met Raaheela over a year ago, when we were nominated together to be co-program coordinators of the University of Maryland chapter of Health Leads, an organization that connects low-income families to resources.
Leading alongside Raaheela is a blessing; she has such an inquisitive mind and unmistakable warmth about her that I see the volunteers she leads consistently inspired by her passion. However, her greatest distinguishing factor in my eyes is her honesty. Raaheela’s integrity is unparalleled. In the work that she does, and in the incredible initiative she shows through her own business and extensive involvement in a variety of service-oriented organizations, she is one of a kind. There is no one else I would trust more to make decisions for Prince George’s County students.
