A man is dead after a Monday afternoon shooting in Hillcrest Heights, said Prince George’s County police.

Police responded about 2:22 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 3400 block of 25th Avenue, said Cpl. Maria McKinney, a county police spokeswoman.

Police arrived to find 19-year-old Troy Remar Neal, of the same block address, suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene, she said.

Neal was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A motive behind the shooting and a possible suspect still are under investigation, McKinney said.

County police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the department’s homicide unit at 301-772-4925 or Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS to remain anonymous.

A phone number for Neal’s residence could not be located.
