A man is dead after being shot inside a Palmer Park home Thursday night, and Prince George’s police are now looking for suspects.
Around 11:30 p.m., county police received a call for a shooting in the 1800 block of Village Green Drive, where officers found Dlonte Renard Days, 23, suffering from gunshot wounds inside his home.
He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead several hours later, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a county police spokesman.
Johnson said it is currently unclear if the home on Village Green Drive belonged to Days.
“We’re still looking for a motive and still looking for suspects and anyone in the area that might have seen or heard anything is asked to call police,” said Johnson.
Some residents in the Palmer Park neighborhood say they were sleeping at the time of the incident, but were woken by county police detectives knocking on residents’ doors to ask for information.
“They came to my door and I saw ambulances and police out there,” said Barbara Morrison, a Village Green Drive resident of 13 years. “I was just so nervous about it. There’s so much going on. You have to be careful.”
She said she did not know what specifically happened or why Days was targeted, but said she knew that he lived with his grandfather in the 1800 block.
“He was a nice little guy,” she said, noting that she had seen Days around the neighborhood, but did not know his name.
According to online Prince George’s County court records, Days was being held in the county’s department of corrections for a marijuana possession charge but was released on bond Oct. 2. He was scheduled for a court hearing for his charges Jan. 3, 2013.
A phone number for Days’ residence could not be located.
