Frederick police are investigating a stabbing that occurred after a large fight Monday night in the 400 block of West South Street.

Officers were called to the area at about 5:30 p.m. for reports that gunshots had been fired, according to a Frederick Police Department news release.

Police were told that a large fight had broken out just prior to their arrival on the scene, which resulted in one victim being stabbed, the release said.

The victim was flown to R Cowley Adams Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he was later released because his wounds were not life-threatening. No other victims have come forward.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Mike Morgan at 301-600-1259, or the tip line at 301-600-8477, or by email at FPDCrimeTip@frederickmdpolice.org

Lt. Clark Pennington, spokesman for the police, was not immediately available for comment.
