As part of the American Diabetes Association’s second annual Healthy Frederick Week, Mayor Randy McClement (R) will host “Walk with the Mayor” at noon today.

The free event begins at City Hall, at 101 N. Court St., and includes a walk through downtown Frederick with McClement, according to a press release.

More than 20,000 Frederick County residents have diabetes, and current estimates from the association state that as many as one in three Americans will have diabetes by 2050. Last year, the cost of diabetes to Frederick was more than $500,000.
