Montgomery County police are still investigating the circumstances of a shooting that took place in a Montgomery Village shopping center on Sept. 26.

Police have yet to identify the victim, a 25 year-old man, and details regarding the shooting will likely not emerge until after the man recovers enough to speak with detectives, said Capt. Paul Starks, a county police spokesman. The man was in critical condition at a local hospital last week and Starks was unable to confirm his status as of Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to reports of shots being fired near Montgomery Village Avenue and Clubhouse Road at 10:03 p.m., said Officer Janelle Smith, a department spokeswoman. Around the same time, another woman called the police and told them she had received a call from a male family member who said he had been shot, according to police reports.

Minutes later, police found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds at the CVS store located at 19100 Montgomery Village Ave. in Gaithersburg. Police believe the two incidents are related, Smith said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the 5th and 6th District Investigative Section at 240-773-6237.
