History is set to come alive in Bowie later this month.

The historic Belair Mansion, 12207 Tulip Grove Drive in Bowie, will host actors who will portray a variety of characters from the Civil War during a Sept. 30 performance.

The actors will bring life to such historical characters as Sgt. Major Christian Fleetwood, a Union soldier who would become one of first Black men to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor, and Rebecca Davis, a Montgomery County woman whose family was divided by the war.

The 3 p.m. performance by the Maryland Historical Players is free and open to the public. More information can be found by calling 301-809-3089, or by e-mailing museumevents@cityofbowie.org.
