The deadline to register to vote on Nov. 6 is quickly approaching.
Residents of Montgomery County who want to vote in the presidential general election this year have until Oct. 16 at 9 p.m. to register.
To register, pick up an application at county libraries, regional services centers, Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services offices, the Motor Vehicle Administration and U.S. Post Offices. The application is also available at www.777vote.org or by calling 240-777-VOTE until Oct. 9.
People can also register at the Board of Elections, 18753 N. Frederick Ave., Suite 210 in Gaithersburg until Oct. 16.
Montgomery County’s Board of Elections is also looking for people to serve as election judges at polling places during the general election. To qualify, judges must be registered to vote in the state of Maryland and must be able to speak, read and write English.
Election judges may not hold or be candidates for public or party office, and they may not serve as candidates’ campaign managers or as treasurers for any campaign financial entity.
The county also needs judges who are bilingual in Spanish and people who can serve as election judge alternates throughout the county.
Training and compensation will be provided.
