Rick Weldon will remain as Brunswick’s city administrator, a month after announcing he would be leaving the post.
Weldon announced his resignation after the city’s election on Aug. 7, citing concerns about ideological differences with newly-elected Mayor Karin Tome.
Weldon had told Tome he would stay on for a few weeks to help tie up loose ends, and he said Wednesday he had never actually left the job.
He said he was satisfied that the concerns he had expressed to Tome after the election had been addressed sufficiently and that the two could work together for the interests of Brunswick. He declined to elaborate on what his concerns had been.
Tome said after the election that Weldon was her top choice to fill the administrator position, and she had hoped he would stay.
Tome said Wednesday that she was thrilled they were able to work out their differences and that Weldon would be staying in the post he has held since January 2011.
