Thirteen girls and two boys will compete this year for the title of 4-H queen and king during this year’s Great Frederick Fair.

The competition will begin at the fairgrounds at 7 p.m. Friday.

Competing for the title of Frederick County 4-H queen are:

- Aislinn Latham, a junior at Catoctin High School. She is a member of the Rocky Ridge 4-H Club. Her main 4-H projects are breeding sheep, cooking and beef breeding. Her parents are James and Kristan Latham of Frederick.

- Ashley Fuss, a senior at Walkersville High School and president of the Walkersville 4-H Club. Her major 4-H projects are showing sheep and livestock judging. Her parents are David and Christy Fuss of Frederick.

- Bailey Roe, a senior at Urbana High School and member of the Calico Clovers 4-H club. Her major 4-H project is the “fashion revue.” Her parents are Shelly Geasler and Pete Roe of Knoxville.

- Erin Jones, a sophomore at Urbana High School and member of the Alpha Alpaca 4-H Club. Her main 4-H project is showing alpacas. Her parents are Sheila and Steve Jones of Adamstown.

- Jessica Buker, a junior at Linganore High School and secretary of the Alpha Alpaca 4-H Club. Her main 4-H projects are alpacas and swine. Her parents are Kevin and Rebecca Buker of Libertytown.

- Jessica Imler, a senior at Middletown High School and president of the Valley Youth 4-H Club. Her 4-H projects include dairy goats, beef and swine and livestock judging. Her parents are Barry and Christy Imler of Middletown.

- Konnar Miller, a freshman at Redlands Community College in Oklahoma and president of the Rocky Ridge 4-H Club. Her main projects are livestock judging, beef, swine and market goats. Her parents are James and Judith Miller of Smithsburg.

- Megan Poole, a senior at Walkersville High School and president of the Kaleidoscope 4-H Club. Her major projects are dogs and public speaking. Her parents are Vicki and Ed Poole of Walkersville.

- Michelle Shedd, a junior at Middletown High School and member of the Bug Patrol Club. Her major 4-H projects include entomology, arts and crafts, baking and photography. Her parents are Tommy and Donna Shedd of Middletown.

- Rachel Summers, a sophomore at Brunswick High School and member of the Calico Clovers Club and Shooting Sports Club. Her major projects are photography, cooking and shooting sports. Her parents are Chip and Adrienne Summers of Jefferson.

- Sara Arnold, a recent graduate of Brunswick High and member of the Calico Clovers 4-H Club. Her major 4-H projects include, fashion revue, serving as a camp counselor and photography. Her parents are Richard and Sally Arnold of Jefferson.

- Sarah Heiland, a sophomore at Oakdale High School and member of the Alpha Alpaca 4-H Club. Her main 4-H projects are alpacas and swine. Her parents are Rick and Teri Heiland of New Market.

- Jocelyn Figgins, a recent graduate of Walkersville High School and member of the Monocacy Achievers 4-H Club. Her main projects include swine and softball. Her parents are Mike and Shanna Figgins of Keymar.

The candidates for Frederick County 4-H king include:

- Eric Myers, a sophomore at Catoctin High School and member of the Lewistown Mt. View 4-H Club. His major projects are rabbits and cooking. His parents are Robert and Karen Myers of Thurmont.

- Matthew Lenhart, a sophomore at Catoctin High School and secretary of the Lewistown Mt. View 4-H Club. His major 4-H projects include dairy, cooking and shooting sports. His parents are Robert and Cheryl Lenhart of Thurmont.

Five girls also submitted essays for Frederick County 4-H Junior Princess: Brietta E. Latham, daughter of Jim and Kristan Latham of Frederick; Emily McDaniel, daughter of Mark and Anne McDaniel of Smithsburg; Kaitlynn Neff, daughter of Joe and Kelly Neff of Sabillasville; Mallory Anderson, daughter of Curtis and Mary Anderson of Jefferson; and Rachael Buker, daughter of Kevin and Rebecca Buker of Libertytown.

One boy submitted an essay for Frederick county 4-H Junior Prince: Jackson Kuster, son of Michael and Emily Kuster of Walkersville.
