A Pennsylvania man who was killed Wednesday night on Md. 85 stepped into the path of an oncoming car as he tried to cross the road, according to Maryland State Police.

Marlin Andrew Winters, 63, of Elizabethtown, Pa., was crossing Md. 85 near Executive Way in Frederick just before 9 p.m. when he was struck by a car driven by Tae Soon Levine of Frederick, state police said in a news release. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No age was available for Levine, who cooperated fully with the investigation, which closed Md. 85 in both directions for about two hours, police said.

The cause of the crash was listed as pedestrian error, according to police.
