Middletown will dedicate a flag pole in honor of victims of terrorism and others on Sept. 11.
The flag and flag pole were dedicated by the Woodmen of the World lodge in Hagerstown, and will be dedicated at a ceremony at 1 p.m. on Sept. 11, in honor of victims and heroes in the fight against terrorism.
The ceremony will feature remarks by Middletown Burgess John Miller, Frederick County Board of Commissioners President Blaine R. Young (R) and Frederick County Sheriff Charles A. “Chuck” Jenkins.
Charter members of AMVETS Post No. 9 will raise the flag, and Boy Scout Troop No. 476 will perform the pledge to the flag.
The event will also include a prayer by the Rev. Mark Wakefield of Christ Reformed United Church of Christ in Middletown, and a benediction by Pastor Kathy Hoffman of Zion Lutheran Church.
Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.
