Jos. A. Bank Clothiers of Hampstead reported that its profit for the quarter ended July 28 grew to $23.2 million from $20.6 million in the prior-year quarter. Sales rose to $260.3 million from $230.7 million. The company also said it plans to add about 50 new stores in each of the next two years, bringing its total to about 800 stores.
Ciena of Linthicum, which provides computer network services and systems, reported that its net loss for the quarter ended July 31 narrowed to $29.8 million from $31.5 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $474.1 million from $435.3 million.
