A man was found dead in a large puddle of water in an Adelphi neighborhood Wednesday afternoon and Prince George’s police have launched a death investigation.

Around 2:29 p.m. Wednesday, county police received a call for a welfare check in the 1800 block of Jasmine Terrace where they discovered the deceased man, who was naked, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a county police spokesman.

Johnson said the man was not bound, and said he did not know if there were any noticeable signs of physical trauma.

Cpl. Maeria McKinney, a county police spokeswoman, said police found the man lying in 8 inches of “stangnant, brackish water” outside.

The case remains a death investigation, not a homicide, as the body has been sent to the chief medical examiner’s office in Baltimore to find an exact cause of death, Johnson said.

Johnson said the man’s identity has not yet been determined.
