Police have charged three men they say were involved in an armed robbery Wednesday in Olney in which one person was punched and another was fired upon.

The incident began about 8:37 p.m. in the unit block of Castle Garden Court, said Officer Rebecca Innocenti, a police spokesperson.

Innocenti said that three occupants of the home went out to investigate a noise, and realized three dirt bikes were missing.

A neighbor reported that he saw three men pushing dirt bikes on a path by the residence.

The three occupants, joined by another friend, followed the path and found the suspects with the dirt bikes. When approached, all three suspects dropped the stolen bikes and fled on foot.

As two of the victims were pushing the bikes back to the residence, the three suspects ran toward them, Innocenti said.

“One of the suspects punched one of the victims in the face while another suspect pointed a handgun and shot in the direction of the other victim,” Innocenti said. “None of the victims were hit.”

The victims ran back to the home to call police.

“It was a very active search with multiple units responding, including canines and the Maryland State Police helicopter,” Innocenti said. The dirt bikes were recovered, she said.

A canine unit tracked down one of the suspects, who has been identified as Michael Denis Woods, 23, of the 3600 block of Ely Place in Washington, D.C., police said.

“A canine unit located a pistol, determined to belong to Woods, in the area of his apprehension,” Innocenti said.

Patrol units and detectives found the other two suspects in the area. They were identified as Enoch Nelson, 18, of an unconfirmed address, and Junious Pierae Plummer, 24, of the 500 block of Foxhall Place SE in Washington. All three suspects were taken to the Central Processing Unit, police said.

Woods has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed robbery, wearing a handgun on person, the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, armed robbery, and discharging a gun in an urban area, police said.

Nelson has been charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, police said.

Plummer has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery, and second-degree assault, police said.

Innocenti said Woods is being held without bond, and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 28.

Nelson is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail, and has a hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday. He can request a preliminary hearing at that time.

Plummer’s bail is also set at $250,000 with a preliminary hearing set for Sept. 28.
