More than 70 students at the Tristar Martial Arts Academy, a martial arts studio in Mount Airy, were awarded belts this month. Colored belts display a student's ranking and level of competence in the sport. Students are promoted to the next level after mastering the previous one.

The academy, at 202 Center St., held its belt testing ceremony Aug. 3, with the following students receiving promotions:

n Camouflage belt: Ayden McLelland, Wesley Ponchak and Duncan Ways

n Camouflage belt with white stripe: Landon Centeno, Mary Chambers, Zach Day, Hunter Delozier, Patrick Donovan, Sean Gillis, Ava Marler, Lizzie McKinney and Mason Novosel

n Camouflage belt with yellow stripe: Abby James and Niko Konstandinidis

n Camouflage belt with orange stripe: Max Pronio

n Camouflage belt with purple stripe: Caleb Evans

n Camouflage belt with blue stripe: Justin Flater

n Camouflage belt with red stripe: Logan Ezerski and Rowan Titus

n Yellow belt: Sara Arnold, Andrew Burge, Landon Castor, Flo Combs, Carli Ellenwood, Reda Fizazi, Jamie Gilette, Mike Mahoney, Tora Mahoney, Darrin Stolba Jr., Stacie Stolba and Beth Suit

n Orange belt: Steven Centeno, Jack Chambers, John Chambers, Scottie Colvin, Aimee Johnson, Steve Johnson, Milvi Nie, Sorin Nie, Bert Scott, Thomas Scott, Sam Solow, Piper Stankiewicz, Brian Tomlinson, Bob Walsh, Bobby Walsh and Adam Wells.
