The Mount Airy Jimmie Cone and Lions Club are sponsoring a fundraiser this month, in conjunction with the Lions Club’s Cruisin’ Night, that will benefit wounded warriors.
The event will run from 5-9 p.m. Aug. 18 at Jimmie Cone, at 1312 Main St. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be used by No Person Left Behind, an affiliate of Operation Second Chance, an organization that supports wounded veterans. NPLB hosts outdoor activities for wounded veterans.
Cruisin’ Night is an informal car show held in the ice cream parlor parking lot twice a month. Last year the fundraiser collected $3,000.
All proceeds will benefit No Person Left Behind. The funds will be used purchase equipment and other items for outdoor trips for the veterans.
Hamburgers, hot dogs, barbecue sandwiches, platters, and drinks, along with other food items will be available. The rain date for the event is Sept. 15.
