Mount Airy celebrated its 118th birthday on Saturday at its annual Family Camp Night celebration at Watkins Park.
Attendees included Mount Airy Mayor Patrick Rockinberg and town councilmen. Tucker Lazarus, of Mount Airy, also was presented with a key to the town during the event.
The event, organized by the Mount Airy Parks and Recreation Commission, is now in its eighth year and draws about 100 campers to the park.
The event included a birthday cake, stargazing, a baking competition, food and fun, officials said.
Mount Airy began as a settlement of homes along Parr’s Ridge in the 1830s, but the town was not incorporated until 1894.
