Prince Georgeís police have arrested a suspect in the murder of a 27-year-old in Upper Marlboro.

The county police departmentís homicide unit arrested 21-year-old Marcus Devon Reid, of Upper Marlboro on Aug. 9. He is charged with first-degree murder.

The arrest comes two days after Prince Georgeís police received a call for a shooting in the 10900 block of Woodlawn Boulevard in Upper Marlboro and found Ishmael Boakye, 27, of Riverdale, lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after police arrived shortly after midnight on Aug. 7.

According to county police, Reid and Boakye were acquaintances and were both involved in an altercation before Boakye was shot dead. A motive still remains unclear, according to the department, and police are asking for anyone with information about the suspect or incident to call the homicide unit at 301-772-4925.

Reid has been taken to the countyís department of corrections in Upper Marlboro and is being held on a no-bond status.

Reid, of the 10500 block of Pookey Way, is set for a preliminary hearing in Prince Georgeís County District Court Sept. 7, according to online district court records.

Defense attorney information for Reid was not listed with the courts as of Tuesday.

A phone number for Reidís residence could not be located.
