A Frederick man faces handgun and attempted murder charges for allegedly shooting another man in the arm Wednesday, city police said.

Thomas James Hamm, 17, of the 1300 block of Taney Avenue in Frederick, was charged as an adult with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and use of a handgun in a violent crime, according to a Frederick Police Department news release.

He was being held on $950,000 bail, police said.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of Key Parkway for a report of shots fired and discovered that a man had been wounded in the arm, police said.

The alleged victim, who was not named by police, was treated and released at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown.
