The Literacy Council of Montgomery County is offering free classes for those learning English as a second language starting this fall in Germantown and Gaithersburg locations.

The council is offering morning classes at the Gilchrist Center in the Upcounty Regional Services Center, 12900 Middlebrooke Road in Germantown, starting with orientations Sept. 10 and 12 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Afternoon classes will take place at the Quince Orchard Public Library, 15831 Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, starting with orientation Aug. 20 and 22 from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

Evening classes will take place at Northwest High School, 13501 Richter Farm Road in Germantown, starting with orientation Sept. 4 and 6 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
