Prince George’s County police have identified the body found last week in a Fort Washington creek.

A chief medical examiner’s office autopsy revealed that the remains were those of Shavon L. Phillips, 22, of the 5100 block of Fitch Street in Washington, D.C., who had been missing since July 30.

According to Prince George’s police, a resident first discovered the body in the creek in the 12200 block of Braemer Circle on Aug. 1 and reported it to authorities.

The creek where the body was found is a tributary of the Potomac River and is between residential neighborhoods in the Tantallon community in Fort Washington

Officer Edward Martin, a Prince George’s county police spokesman, would not say whether there were signs of trauma to Philips’ body and said the suspicious death remains under investigation.
