Medical insurer Coventry Health Care of Bethesda reported that its second-quarter profit fell to $91.7 million from $224.5 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $3.52 billion from $3.03 billion.

Discovery Communications of Silver Spring reported that its second-quarter profit grew to $293 million from $254 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $1.14 billion from $1.07 billion.

USEC of Bethesda, which provides uranium fuel for nuclear power plants, reported that its second-quarter net loss widened to $92 million from $21.2 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues fell to $364.8 million from $454.4 million.

Federal Realty Investment Trust of Rockville reported that its second-quarter profit fell to $33.6 million from $36.5 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $147.6 million from $136.3 million. Funds from operations grew to $66.8 million from $64.3 million.

Saul Centers of Bethesda, an equity real estate investment trust, reported that its second-quarter profit grew to $9.6 million from $7.1 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $47.5 million from $42.8 million. Funds from operations rose to $19.4 million from $15.4 million.

American Capital Agency of Bethesda, a real estate investment trust, reported a second-quarter net loss of $261 million, versus a profit of $178 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenue rose to $504 million from $265 million.

Emergent BioSolutions of Rockville reported that its second-quarter profit fell to $5.5 million from $12.5 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues fell to $70.4 million from $88.1 million.

American Capital of Bethesda, a private equity company and global asset manager, reported that its second-quarter profit fell to $237 million from $410 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $163 million from $142 million.

Radio One of Silver Spring reported that its second-quarter profit fell to $46.5 million from $101.3 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $105.9 million from $97.1 million.

Vocus of Beltsville, which provides cloud marketing software, reported that its second-quarter net loss widened to $5.2 million from $755,000 in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $43.6 million from $28.5 million.

Stem-cell company Osiris Therapeutics of Columbia reported a second-quarter net loss of $4.3 million, versus a profit of $1.8 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues fell to $1.7 million from $10.4 million.

U.S. Silica Holdings of Frederick reported that its second-quarter profit grew to $19.5 million from $6.4 million in the prior-year quarter. Sales rose to $104.6 million from $74.1 million.

Colfax of Fulton, which provides gas- and fluid-handling and fabrication technology products and services, reported that its second-quarter profit rose to $18.6 million from $10.4 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $1.05 billion from $186.7 million.

Columbia cybersecurity company Sourcefire reported a second-quarter profit of $1.1 million, versus a net loss of $399,000 in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $50.6 million from $36.5 million.

Legg Mason of Baltimore reported a net loss of $13 million in the quarter ended June 30, versus a profit of $61.7 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues fell to $630.7 million from $717.1 million.

Chesapeake Lodging Trust of Annapolis reported that its second-quarter profit grew to $9.1 million from $2 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $67 million from $40.3 million. Funds from operations grew to $15.7 million from $5.7 million. Revenue per available room grew to $165.64 from $151.05, as occupancy rose to 83.2 percent from 82.7 percent and average daily rate grew to $199.12 from $182.57.

Sinclair Broadcast Group of Hunt Valley reported that its second-quarter profit grew to $30.1 million from $18.5 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $253.6 million from $188.9 million.

Omega Healthcare Investors of Hunt Valley, a real estate investment trust that invests in and provides financing to the long-term care industry, reported that its second-quarter profit grew to $30.6 million from $17.8 million in the prior-year quarter. Revenues rose to $83.8 million from $72.6 million. Funds from operations rose to $55.8 million from $42.6 million.

OBA Financial Services of Germantown, parent of OBA Bank, reported that its profit for the year ended June 30 fell to $268,000 from $857,000 in the prior-year. Its profit for the quarter ended June 30 fell to $78,000 from $123,000 in the prior-year quarter. Assets at June 30 totaled $392.1 million, up from $386.4 million a year earlier.

Howard Bancorp of Ellicott City, parent of Howard Bank, reported that its second-quarter profit grew to $395,000 from $351,000 in the prior-year quarter. Assets at June 30 totaled $356.1 million, up from $310.7 million a year earlier.

BCSB Bancorp of Baltimore, parent of Baltimore County Savings Bank, reported that its profit for the quarter ended June 30 grew to $368,000 from $344,000 in the prior-year quarter. Assets at June 30 totaled $642.4 million, up from $624.9 million Sept. 30.

Carrollton Bancorp of Columbia, parent of Carrollton Bank, reported that its second-quarter net loss narrowed to $164,804 from $697,358 in the prior-year quarter. Assets at June 30 totaled $359.6 million, down from $376.4 million a year earlier.

First United of Oakland, parent of First United Bank & Trust, reported that its second-quarter profit grew to $1.6 million from $1.1 million. Assets at June 30 totaled $1.35 billion, down from $1.39 billion a year earlier.

Fraternity Community Bancorp of Baltimore, parent of Fraternity Federal Savings and Loan Association, reported that its profit for the quarter ended June 30 rose to $102,400 from $23,600 in the prior-year quarter. Assets at June 30 totaled $174.8 million, down from $175.3 million Dec. 31.
