A 20-year-old woman was seriously injured by an arrow Tuesday in Damascus.
The woman was struck in the head by the arrow at about 8:36 p.m. in the 10400 block of Moxley Road in Damascus, Montgomery County Police said.
A man was practicing shooting arrows at a nearby bale of hay, when the arrow went through the bale and struck a hard object, ricochetting into the woman’s head, said Officer Rebecca Innocenti, a spokeswoman for the police.
Montgomery County fire and rescue personnel responded.
The woman was flown by helicopter to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Innocenti said Tuesday that the woman suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. She said the department’s policy is not to release the woman’s name.
Innocenti said that there are no plans to charge those involved in the incident.
