Talia Brock, of Silver Spring, was awarded a Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship for the 2012-13 school year. The scholarship recognizes a student’s outstanding personal, moral and intellectual leadership at Denison University in Granville, Ohio.

Dani James, of Silver Spring, received the Academic Achievement in Teaching English as a Second Language Award from Notre Dame of Maryland University in Baltimore.

Sol Prensky, of Takoma Park, received the Outstanding Junior Award, which recognizes participation in campus activities, at American International College in Springfield, Mass.

Gabrielle Winick, of Silver Spring, received funding from Haverford College’s John B. Hurford ’60 Center for the Arts and Humanities to spend the summer working in Washington, D.C., as an intern with the Publishing Office of the Library of Congress. She will research and write for several books in different stages of the publishing process.
