The Silver Spring Library celebrates summer with a used book sale and free family-friendly programs Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will include thousands of fiction, history, art, mystery, romance, literature, cooking, biography, children’s and manga titles. Hardbacks will sell for $2, large paperbacks will sell for $1.50 and small paperbacks will sell for 50 cents.

Two performances of Nancy Nuttle’s Music Together will take place at 10:15 and 11 a.m. complete with singing, dancing and instrumental play for young children. Pottery Crafts — including a pottery wheel demonstration and a project — for ages 10 and up will be at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. at 8901 Colesville Road.

The programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Library’s Silver Spring Chapter and the Silver Spring Library Advisory Committee. For more information, contact the Silver Spring Library at 240-773-9420.
