A woman was shot in the leg in Suitland Tuesday night and Prince George’s County police are now recovering evidence and seeking the suspect responsible.

Police received a report of a shooting around 5:56 p.m. at the intersection of Dewitt Avenue and Vine Street, in a residential neighborhood with single-family houses, said Cpl. Maria McKinney, a county police spokeswoman.

The unidentified woman was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to county police.

During an investigation at the scene, Prince George’s police recovered a handgun believed to be used in the shooting, McKinney said.

There are no identified suspects at this time and police have not yet determined a motive in the shooting, said McKinney, who said the investigating is ongoing.
