A 32-year-old Beltsville man is facing assault and attempted murder charges in connection to the Saturday shooting at the Galaxy nightclub in Langley Park, which injured a Prince George’s officer, police said.

Kelly Gilliss of the 11000 block of Cherry Hill Road in Beltsville, has been charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of first-degree assault, three counts of second-degree assault, three counts of firearm discharge and one count of concealed deadly weapon, according to a police press release.

Police had held three suspects on Saturday morning in connection to the shooting at the nightclub at 2031 University Blvd.

The shooting started around 12:30 a.m. after three patrons were extracted from the club for disorderly conduct, according to the release.

The patrons — a man and two women — left the nightclub and got into a white Honda. As they were leaving, the driver of the vehicle reached through the passenger window and began firing a handgun.

One round struck officer Rachael Jacob, a four-year veteran in the Prince George’s police Department, who was working part-time as a security guard at the club.

“She wasn’t on shift,” said Iris Acosta, public information officer at the Prince George’s Police Department on Saturday.

Jacob is recovering after having surgery to remove the bullet from her leg.
