A beer truck overturned on northbound Interstate 270 in Montgomery County early Thursday, leaving the roadway awash in beer suds, according to a Maryland State Police Trooper Steven Lipinski.
The incident occurred just north of the Md. 109 exit at 4:10 a.m. Police have cleaned up the accident site and all lanes are now open, police said.
“The driver was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” said Maryland State Police Cpl. David Most.
A hazardous materials team was dispatched to the site to clean up fuel spilled by a rupture in the truck’s fuel tank, police said.
Earlier this morning all lanes of Interstate 270 were closed and cars were only able to travel on the shoulder. Police had to use heavy machinery to upright the truck.
