Hundreds turned out Saturday night for the 27th Twilight Runfest 8K, which started at Rockville’s Town Center.
Christopher Mills of Falls Church, Va., edged out Eyob Alemu of Washington, D.C., by 4/100 of a second, in the men’s division.
On the women’s side, Aziza Aliyu won her event in 26 minutes, 54 seconds. She lives and trains in New York City; this was her first Twilight start.
David Swope of New Windsor was the wheelchair winner in 23:47.
Runners were treated to live music while running on the campus of Montgomery College. One difference for this year’s event, organizers said, was the weather was about 15 degrees cooler than normal in July.
The event is presented by the Rockville Rotary Club, hosted by the Rockville’s Department of Recreation and Parks and conducted by the Montgomery County Road Runners Club. Race proceeds benefit the Rockville Recreation Fund and the Rockville Rotary Club Foundation.
