Montgomery County Fire and Rescue is reminding residents that all fireworks are illegal in the county after a fire Saturday night in the Kentlands caused about $70,000 in damage.

Firefighters were called at about 10:45 p.m. Saturday to 733 Kent Oaks Mew in the Kentlands neighborhood of Gaithersburg for a detached garage of a single-family home that was heavily on fire, according to county fire and rescue spokesman Assistant Chief Scott Graham.

About 65 firefighters on the scene brought the fire under control in 40 minutes, Graham said.

No one was harmed in the fire, and the residents’ house was not damaged.

The county’s Fire and Explosive investigators determined that the fire was caused by fireworks, Graham said.

Fire and rescue services are investigating, he said; as of Tuesday no one has been charged with any crimes related to this incident
