Chad and Alana Snyder, of Thurmont, were named Frederick County’s 2012 Foster Parents of Year.

They were honored at a gala dinner June 9 for their work in caring for two young boys that were malnourished, unable to speak, and had significant emotional needs. The Snyders provided not only basic care, but speech and physical therapy and communication skills.

The dinner, which also honored foster families from around the metropolitan area, was held at the Grand Hyatt Washington.

Frederick County Commissioner David P. Gray presented the couple with the award.
