Manuel Geraldo of Fort Washington was nominated June 27 by Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III to a position on the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. M-NCPPC operates and manages park space, planning and other efforts in both Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.
Geraldo, an attorney, is slated to fill the position currently held by John Squire, who has been in his position since 2003. Commission members typically serve a four-year term, however no replacement was named when his term ended in 2007, so he continued on by default, said Andrea Davey, a Park and Planning spokeswoman.
The County Council will have 30 days to approve or reject Baker’s nomination. Should they fail to do either, he will automatically be appointed to the commission.
