Brookside Nature Center will partner with the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center for a bird banding demonstration from 9:30 to 11 a.m. July 21 at the nature center, 1400 Glenallan Ave., Wheaton.

Smithsonian bird banding experts will be on site to explain how the birds are captured, and what information is gleaned by examining them.

Each bird will then be banded and released. Data collected during the morning's session will be entered into the SBMC's Urban NestWatch database.

The event is free and open to all ages.
