About 25 students and recent graduates of the American Public University System spruced up an Oxon Hill senior care center June 14 prior to the school’s graduation ceremony at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at National Harbor on June 15.
APUS is an accredited online university system consisting of American Military University and American Public University.
The group of APUS students and now alumni volunteered their time in the community to assist the Crescent Ridge Adult Day Health Center at 7001 Oxon Hill Road to landscape and clean the facility.
APUS spokeswoman Tiffany Young said a community service project is done every year prior to their graduation ceremony. Young said students chose to help the Oxon Hill community because they wanted to provide a service in the same community they will be in for their graduation.
The convention center where the graduation ceremony was held is about 2.5 miles from the senior care center.
