A man was stabbed during an altercation with three other males outside of a College Park bar near the University of Maryland campus early Wednesday.

Officer First Class Iris Acosta, a county police spokeswoman, said the victim was stabbed around 2 a.m. in the 4500 block of Knox Road Cornerstone Grill and Loft. She said the victim is not a University of Maryland student.

“One male stabbed him with a knife, and he was treated at an area hospital,” Acosta said of the non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are now investigating what led to the assault and seeking possible suspects.

A text alert sent to the UM campus community said the incident occurred at Cornerstone and the three suspects involved in the altercation with the victim ran east on Knox Road.

Calls to Cornerstone were not returned Wednesday.

According to Cornerstone’s website, the establishment closed 20 minutes prior to the 2 a.m. stabbing.

County police are asking anyone with information of the incident or the individuals responsible to contact them at 301-772-4908 or Crime Solvers at 866-411 TIPS to remain anonymous.
