A man was struck by a vehicle Friday morning after falling from a repair vehicle platform onto a Rockville street.
The man, whom officials did not identify, was transported to a county trauma center with serious, life-threatening injuries, said Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman, Beth Anne Nesselt.
The man was a contract worker who was working on a project on the side of the road at the intersection of Frederick Road and King Farm Boulevard at about 10:41 a.m., when the incident occurred, Nesselt said.
“For unknown reasons, the worker fell out of the bucket and into the roadway and was struck by a passing vehicle,” she said. “The vehicle remained on the scene and the man was transported. ... Initially, aviation was requested. However, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service ultimately transported him on the ground to an area trauma center.”
County police and experts from the state labor department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the circumstances of the accident, Nesselt said.
