An Accokeek high school student has been selected to participate in the 2012 U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar program.

Ben Wartofsky, a rising senior at Beddow High School, will join roughly 2,250 high school students from around the nation to attend the summer leadership program. The program is designed to help educate, motivate and prepare students who may be considering applying to the Naval Academy after graduating high school.

Wartofsky will participate in a six-day session at USNA where he will take part in academic and leadership workshops, daily physical training and group conditioning exercises.
