Prince George’s County police arrested a man who allegedly robbed a woman at a College Park restaurant.

James Turner, 18, of the 400 block of Lebaum Street in Southeast Washington, D.C., was arrested Tuesday night after briefly attempting to run from county officers who spotted him in the 8200 block of Baltimore Avenue in College Park, according to police.

Turner is charged with robbery, second-degree assault and theft under $1,000, said county police spokesman Cpl. Clinton Copeland.

Police said on Friday, Turner walked into the Shanghai Tokyo Cafe restaurant in the 8500 block of Baltimore Avenue and stole a woman’s iPhone after a brief struggle.

Turner was taken to the county police District 1 office in Hyattsville where he confessed to the crime, police said in a statement.

The restaurant is reviewing its security policies to ensure such an incident doesn’t happen again, said store owner Joe Chen in a statement.

“We are shocked, and we are outraged that something like this could happen at our neighborhood restaurant,” Chen said in a statement.

Shanghai Tokyo Cafe reimbursed the woman for the cost of buying the new phone out of a commitment to trying to make the situation right for a customer said, David Baker, a spokesman for the restaurant.
