Frederick High School senior pitcher-outfielder Taylor Hyssong signed a letter of intent to play baseball on scholarship at Davis & Elkins College (W.Va.), a Division II program that plays in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Cadets coach Phillip Rhodes announced Friday.

Hyssong compiled a 5-3 record with a 2.02 earned run average with 69 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings of work and batted .266 with 16 runs, 16 runs batted in, seven doubles, a triple and a home run this past spring.

He earned first team All-Monocacy Valley Athletic League honors this spring and he was a two-time member of MSABC Classic West team member.

Davis & Elkins finished the season with an 18-28 overall mark and a 13-18 record in league play.
